Feel like this was the type of movie people were expecting in Joaquin's JOKER. WB: We'll change the name! And sabotage Sonic, that'll save us. Aves de Presa: El Regreso de las Unicas y Diferentes. The Joker and i broke up That another way of saying he (Jared leto) got fired. The DCEU is making its boldest move yet with Harley Quinn's Birds of Prey movie. Instead of getting her own solo film, the Suicide Squad standout is returning with a new badass squad. The Birds of Prey are definitely a famous comic book team, but they aren't nearly as recognizable as the Justice League or The Bat Family. With that in mind, we have compiled a handy guide to help get you up to speed on the basics of Birds of Prey before the movie comes out in 2020. Let's start with the big trailer: She's Harley frickin' Quinn! But let's focus... What Is The Official Birds Of Prey Movie Title? Margot Robbie, a. k. a. Harley Quinn, revealed in an Instagram photo that the full title of the movie is Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. It is a mouthful! Harley co-creator Paul Dini said he loves the title, and the photo Robbie posted of the script, calling it "classic Quinnsanity" for a character who often scribbles "wacky thoughts" all over things like her therapist's pad. The title also works as a tongue-in-cheek riff off the movie Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance. Bird humor never gets old! What Is The Birds Of Prey Release Date? Birds of Prey is currently scheduled for release on February 7, 2020. It follows DCEU movie releases Aquaman (December 21, 2018) and Shazam! April 5, 2019) and precedes Wonder Woman 1984 (June 5, 2020. Birds of Prey was previously set to open on Valentine's Day 2020, but it was moved back one week, so it wouldn't conflict with Bond 25, which was opening that February 14 but moved itself to April 2020 anyway. What Is The Birds Of Prey Rating? Birds of Prey is currently confirmed to be rated R. That's in line with what Margot Robbie wanted when she pitched the idea of "an R-rated girl gang film. She wanted her Harley Quinn to be part of it, but not have it be a solo film. If this R rating holds, it will be the DCEU's first R-rated release. Robbie's Harley first appeared in Suicide Squad, but that film had the usual PG-13 rating for DCEU films. This will be an edgy departure, following the successes of other R-rated comic book films like Fox's Deadpool and Logan. When Did Birds Of Prey Start Filming? Birds of Prey reportedly started filming in January 2019 in Los Angeles, under the working title Fox Force Five, and ended filming in April 2019. The working title intel came from Production Weekly (via Pursue News) and Pulp Fiction fans should recognize it. It's the name of the TV show Pulp character Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman) was working on, following an all-female team of secret agents. So between Birdman and Pulp Fiction, Birds of Prey is already off to an early start with sly pop culture references. The script for Birds of Prey was written by Christina Hodson and the film is being directed by relative newcomer, Dead Pigs director Cathy Yan. She's only the second woman to direct a film for the DCEU, after Wonder Woman 's Patty Jenkins. She's also the first Asian woman to ever direct a superhero movie. What Is The Plot Of Birds Of Prey? Warner Bros. has yet to release an official synopsis for Birds of Prey, but here's what the film is reportedly about: Harley Quinn is said to bring this girl gang together, with Mary Elizabeth Winstead's Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell's Black Canary, and Rosie Perez's Detective Renee Montoya protecting Ella Jay Basco's Cassandra Cain after she comes across a diamond belonging to crime boss Roman Sionis, a. Black Mask, played by Ewan McGregor. In DC Comics, the Birds of Prey lineup has expanded over the years, but the covert ops and crimefighting team is usually anchored by Batgirl/Oracle (aka Barbara Gordon) Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance) and the Huntress (Helena Bertinelli. Harleen Quinzel a. Harley Quinn - Margot Robbie Margot Robbie was a scene-stealer in Suicide Squad, and her Harley returns to lead this semi-spinoff. Before she met and fell in love with the Joker, Dr. Harleen Quinzel was a psychiatrist assigned to Arkham Asylum. The DC Comics villain was voiced by Arleen Sorkin in Batman: The Animated Series, and played by Mia Sara in The WB's 2002 Birds of Prey TV series. The DCEU is reportedly still working on David Ayer's Gotham City Sirens movie, with Robbie's Harley Quinn returning and working with Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Pamela Isley/Poison Ivy. But first, Harley is working with more traditionally heroic crime fighters, the Birds of Prey. Margot Robbie's star has only risen since Suicide Squad was released in 2016. In the past two years, she has landed a series of high profile projects. including Queen Elizabeth I in Mary Queen of Scots and Sharon Tate in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She also picked up her first Oscar nomination for I, Tonya, which she also produced. She's the perfect choice to lead her own film, but it says a lot about her collaborative spirit that she preferred this film to be an ensemble rather than a Harley spinoff. Dinah Laurel Lance a. a Black Canary - Jurnee Smollett-Bell Jurnee Smollett-Bell was cast as crime fighter Black Canary. The CW's Arrow -verse recently brought the Black Canary mythology into the mainstream with the character played by played by Katie Cassidy. Dinah Lance, a. a Black Canary, is one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in the entire DC universe, and her abilities are further bolstered by her sonic "Canary Cry" power, which can shatter glass and burst eardrums. The prospect of Black Canary making an appearance in a Birds of Prey movie is exciting on its own, but also because it also lays possible groundwork for the DCEU to introduce her mentor, Wildcat, as well as her longtime boyfriend, Green Arrow. Smollett-Bell broke out as young Eve in the 1997 film Eve's Bayou, and had a lead role in Denzel Washington's 2007 film The Great Debaters. She followed that with series regular roles as Jess Merriweather on Friday Night Lights and Nicole Wright in True Blood. This superhero film will be a departure for her, but it should also be a great showcase. Helena Bertinelli a. a Huntress - Mary Elizabeth Winstead Mary Elizabeth Winstead will play Huntress, who has had several iterations in the DC world. According to Variety, Birds of Prey will show her as a former mafia princess who was devastated at a young age when her family was killed in a mob hit. That turns her into a vigilante, and ultimately leads her to join the Birds of Prey team. Typically operating out of Gotham City (and often considered an honorary member of The Bat Family) Huntress has become known for her generally violent tactics, as well as her trademark use of a crossbow as her primary weapon. Most non-comic book readers will likely remember the villainous portrayal of the character during the first two seasons of The CW's Arrow. Although she is not an original member of the Birds of Prey organization, she has become inextricable from the team, and generally considered one of its most recognizable members. Winstead will reunite with her Fargo Season 3 co-star Ewan McGregor in Birds of Prey. She was a standout in 10 Cloverfield Lane, and already has comic book adaptation experience from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, which helps get us excited to see her wield a crossbow as Huntress. Detective Renee Montoya - Rosie Perez Fearless Oscar nominee Rosie Perez has been cast as Gotham City Police Department Detective Renee Montoya. Renee Montoya was created for Batman: The Animated Series and returned for The New Batman Adventures. She has previously been depicted in Gotham, Batman: Bad Blood and Batman: The Telltale Series. In the comics, Renee is also one of the DC universe's most prominent gay characters. At one point in the comics, she became The Question, following her mentor Vic Sage. It's not clear yet if Birds of Prey will include The Question aspect of Renee Montoya's story or if she'll stick to being a police detective. But, since Rosie Perez was interested enough to take the role, hopefully that means they gave her character a lot of good material. Cassandra Cain a. Batgirl - Ella Jay Basco Young Ella Jay Basco will make her film debut as Cassandra Cain. In the comics, Cassandra is a teenager/young adult, but in Birds of Prey the half-Asian Cassandra will be a child. Cassandra Cain was introduced in the comics as the daughter of assassins David Cain and Lady Shiva. The child prodigy was raised to become a skilled martial artist and assassin. Weirdly enough, Cassandra was taught not to speak; instead, the parts of her brain normally used for speech were trained to read other people's movements and body language. She ultimately became one of Barbara Gordon/Oracle's field agents. Cassandra is one of several characters who have assumed the role of Batgirl. In the comics, Cassandra also goes by the name Orphan. This will be a breakout role for Ella Jay Basco, whose first credit was as 3-year-old Evelyn Yu in the "Perfect Storm" episode of Grey's Anatomy back in 2013. Since then, she's only had a few TV series roles, and this will be her first movie. What a way to make a debut! Roman Sionis a. Black Mask - Ewan McGregor Ewan McGregor will be playing Birds of Prey 's villain, Black Mask, Deadline confirmed. His Roman Sionis is a mob boss who leads the False Facers gang. Roman came from a rich family, and his parents cared more about that wealth than him. They'd drag him to parties and force him to be friends with other rich young Gothamites like Bruce Wayne. Roman hated his parents' fakeness. their masks. When they died in a suspicious fire he inherited the Janus Cosmetics Corporation but drove it into the ground, leaving the door open for a Wayne Industries buyout. So, Roman came to hate Bruce Wayne. He carved a mask from his father's black coffin, hence the name, and eventually became one of Gotham's most ruthless crime lords. This won't be the first time Ewan McGregor plays a villain, or joins a blockbuster franchise, but he did play Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequels, so it's definitely a departure. Some of us still know the Scottish actor best from Trainspotting and singing in Mouin Rouge! He took a rare trip to TV to join fellow Birds of Prey star Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Fargo Season 3, and right before this movie opens he'll play grown-up Danny Torrance in Doctor Sleep. We're definitely looking forward to seeing what McGregor brings to the dark role of Black Mask. Victor Zsasz - Chris Messina The most recent addition to the Birds of Prey cast is actor Chris Messina as villain Victor Zsasz. In the comic, Victor is a self-mutilating serial killer. For every life he takes, he carves a mark on his body. Since his entire body is covered in cuts, you can see how many lives he's taken. Victor was once a successful business man in Gotham, but he gambled everything and lost to The Penguin. Victor was about to jump off a bridge when he was attacked by a homeless man. (Only in Gotham can you be attacked mid-suicide. Victor murdered the homeless man in self-defense, and that inspired him to kill as many people as possible. Chris Messina is one of those actors who seems to have been in everything, from Six Feet Under and The Mindy Project to Vicky Christina Barcelona and Away We Go. This is definitely a new direction for him, and it further illustrates the bold choices being made for this DC film. Other Confirmed Actors Two other actors have been confirmed to be a part of Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) at this point, but we don't know much about either of the characters they'll be playing. Comedian Ali Wong, who's best known for her two Netflix specials ( Baby Cobra and Hard Knock Wife) and her work on ABC's American Housewife, has been tapped to play someone working alongside Renee Montoya in Gotham law enforcement. We don't know right now if this means she's another cop or someone else working for the GCPD, or if she's a lawyer, but it should be fun to watch Wong bring her manic energy to the film either way. Actor Robert Catrini has also been added to the film, but his role is being kept super mysterious for now. Catrini is a character actor with over 100 film and TV credits dating back to 1995, and has appeared in shows such as Law & Order, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ally McBeal, General Hospital, 24, Criminal Minds, True Blood and Homeland. Other Birds Of Prey Characters Who Could Appear So far, Birds of Prey has yet to cast Barbara Gordon, and it's possible they will leave the daughter of Commissioner James Gordon behind. But, we'll see. Plenty of other characters have rotated through the Birds of Prey roster over the years. Potential additions to the cast include, but are certainly not limited to, Katana, Hawkgirl, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy. although major roles for Poison Ivy and Catwoman may be saved for Gotham City Sirens, if that ever gets off the ground. It's also worth noting that the Birds of Prey team lineup is not inherently exclusive to women; male heroes like Nightwing and Blue Beetle have taken up honorary positions among the roster at various points throughout their publication history. How Does Harley Quinn Relate To The Birds Of Prey? Given the fact that the Birds of Prey often operate out of Gotham City, they have come into conflict with Harley Quinn numerous times over the course of their publication history. It's not clear yet how Birds of Prey will connect Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn to the heroines, but Mary Elizabeth Winstead said the movie is sort of a Suicide Squad spinoff, with Harley bringing the girl gang together. The Birds of Prey have worked with villains in the past, and Harley Quinn has definitely proven herself willing to cooperate with others when it benefits her. How Does Birds Of Prey Connect To The DCEU? Birds of Prey will be the eighth film in the DC Extended Universe, following Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman, and Shazam! Birds of Prey will be released nearly a year after Shazam! s April 5, 2019 opening, but. as of this moment. just four months before Wonder Woman 1984 arrives on June 5, 2020. We'll have to see if Birds of Prey includes a connection to the Wonder Woman sequel. Wonder Woman 1984 started filming well before Birds of Prey, and it was originally scheduled to open toward the end of 2019, before Birds of Prey 's current release. Now that the dates have been switched, Birds of Prey may include some kind of segue into the next chapter of Wonder Woman's story. even if that story is another prequel, this time set in the 1980s.

I always take your word and now I feel like an ahole and take back every mean thing i said about this flick, can't wait to see it now thanks for this post:b.

Aves de presa (y la fantabulosa emancipación de Harley Quinn) Full. Aves de presa (y la fantabulosa emancipación de Harley Quinn) Full movie page imdb. Cant wait to watch The Hedgehog: Sonic. Margot Robbie stars as the cosplay favorite Harley Quinn in a movie that plays at provocation but declines to provoke anything like a thought. Credit. Warner Bros. Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) Directed by Cathy Yan Action, Adventure, Crime More Information A lot of shocking stuff comes out of Harley Quinns mouth — maniacal giggles, streams of obscenity, big words to remind you that she has a Ph. D. in psychology, a splash of greenish vomit — but what caught my attention was the line “I voted for Bernie. ” This admission is offered up as part of a string of reasons for people in Gotham City to hate Harley, best known locally as the Jokers (now ex- girlfriend, and even though its a throwaway joke I cant seem to let it go. Less because Im distracted from my solemn movie-critic duties by electoral politics (though of course I am) than because the Bernie name-check is close to the only topical reference in all of “Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. ” That title works very hard to achieve a puzzling effect — what is a “fantabulous emancipation”? why just “one” Harley Quinn? — and the rest of the movie, directed by Cathy Yan from a script by Christina Hodson, does the same. Including the scrap of dialogue Im hung up on. What if instead of Bernie, Harley said she voted for Trump, or Hillary, or Jill Stein? Not as funny, for some reason. Are we meant to infer that shes a socialist? Or (as she and others like to insist) that shes crazy? There isnt really an answer. The answer is anything you want it to be. The senator from Vermont, whatever else he may achieve in 2020, has risen to the level of empty, vaguely humorous pop-cultural signifier. Whatever the name-check might mean, its a safe and easy reference. Like “Joker, ” “Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)” is sincere in its commitment to nihilism, but coy about the implications of that commitment. Unlike “Joker, ” this exercise in R-rated fan-flattery allows itself, and the audience, to have some fun with its noisy, hectic, self-conscious riffing on the conventions of comic-book-based entertainment. Harley is played, as she was in “Suicide Squad, ” by Margot Robbie, with strenuous attitude and abundant confidence in her own charm. This time, fortunately, she has a new squad. Her erstwhile beau the Joker, though he is frequently invoked, is never seen. Supervillain duties are taken up by the Gotham billionaire Roman Sionis (a gleeful Ewan McGregor. He and his chief minion (a glum Chris Messina) are venal, volatile sadists who like to slice off the faces of anyone who makes them mad. Harley has joined that group, and now that she no longer has the immunity of being Jokers moll, Roman can dispose of her at will. Its more complicated than that, of course, as you might expect from a movie called “Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. ” (The more you say it, the less sense it makes. The plot, driven by Harleys hyperactive narration, zigzags and hopscotches across time and space to fill in the back stories of her frenemies, the as-yet-unhatched predatory birds who get top billing. These include Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco) a young pickpocket; Helena Bertinelli (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) a vengeful Mafia princess who wants to be known as the Huntress but who is usually called the Crossbow Killer for obvious reasons; and Dinah Lance (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) a singer in Sioniss nightclub who is recruited for nastier work. On the other side of the law is Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) a hard-as-nails Gotham detective who has grown bitter watching mediocre male colleagues receive credit and promotions for her work. If Perez were to star in a stand-alone Renee Montoya movie (or an old-fashioned network-television cop series) I wouldnt be mad. But this is Harleys show, and it runs on a strange brew of righteousness and aggression, at once embracing and neutralizing the tropes of female anger and semi-feminist solidarity that are quickly becoming movie clichés. (The secondhand feeling is affirmed by the musical cues, which include “Black Betty, ” “Barracuda” and other staples. At times, a fed-up, cleareyed critique of male entitlement (and worse) snaps into focus — Sioniss cruelty has a decidedly misogynist edge — only to dissolve into jokey irreverence. The one thing “Birds of Prey” fears is being taken seriously, which makes it, again, something of an antidote to “Joker” and to the doomy solemnity of other DC products, going all the way back to “Batman Begins. ” The mood of antic, playful obnoxiousness feels forced rather than liberated, the result of careful note-taking during repeated viewings of “Deadpool. ” The rapid-fire repartee is less than sparkling, as if the goal were to sound smart while still appealing to the dumbest or most distracted person in the audience. The fight scenes, on the other had, have snap and surprise — a hand-to-hand, martial-arts classicism that hasnt been seen much in recent action movies. When Harley and her crew, outnumbered and outgunned, take on legions of muscular bad guys, “Birds of Prey” finds a rhythm and a logic, a sense of gravity and self-assurance, that is otherwise lacking. It isnt enough. Like other big-studio exercises in pseudo-subversion (very much including “Deadpool”) “Birds of Prey” is happy to play at provocation with swear words and violence while carefully declining to provoke anything like a thought. Its really not that interesting that Harley Quinn voted for Bernie, though it might be very interesting to know why, or if shes backing a different candidate this time around. Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) Rated R. Sadistic violence, all in fun. Running time: 1 hour 49 minutes.

Initially I had no interest in this movie. But the second trailer and other previews including this one got me so hyped. This movie will SNAP! The action scenes are so lit. This will surprise everyone, trust me. DCEU is getting their way up this year firstly with Joker and now this Birds of Prey, whooosssshhhh, get ready ladies it's gonna be a nice ride 💥💥 Margot Robbie makes totally judges the Harley Quinn character like she was made for this completely nostalgic like the 80s and 90s animated series of Batman Joker and Harley Quinn 💥 kabooomm.

Is it just me or do the other characters look just boring and generic? I mean Harley is the only one standing out here while the other woman are just background assets. I scared this might inspire a crazy white women to go around hitting people with an over sized hammer. Hope they have a lot of cops at every theater to protect the people from this.

E grazie ma se il trailer è in Inglese. I really love Phylis dancing at the end.

The last time we saw Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) in the very last scene of “Suicide Squad, ” she was happily reading a book and sipping an espresso behind bars, only to find herself suddenly freed by her boyfriend, the Joker (Jared Leto. “Puddin! ” she squealed at the sight of her green-haired paramour, though if you watch that scene again, you may find her delight more forced than persuasive. Its an unusually strained moment, and surely no fault of Robbie, a versatile actress with a Cheshire cats grin who was always a good match for Harleys brand of lunacy. Clearly, not even the most irrational mind would want to go home with this joyless, juiceless excuse for a super-villain. Mercifully, the Joker is nowhere to be seen in “Birds of Prey, ” a sleek, diverting, hyper-violent new caper that arrives bearing the cheeky subtitle “(and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. ” She isnt the only one whos been emancipated. You might say that the whole movie — a fast, cheap and carefully controlled distraction from the bigger, heavier goings-on at the DC Comics blockbuster factory — has successfully emancipated itself from the dead weight of Letos Joker, a cinematic non-starter that was recently eclipsed by Joaquin Phoenixs superior, soon-to-be-Oscar-winning upgrade. Whether we will ever see Robbie and Phoenix team up for a Harley-Joker reunion is unclear, though personally I hope not; it is hard to imagine their characters occupying the same Gotham City, let alone the same movie. “Joker, ” indebted to the sweatily atmospheric New York crime pictures of Martin Scorsese, is a bleak and brooding character study, thick with doomy portent and disturbing psychological undercurrents. “Birds of Prey, ” directed by Cathy Yan from a screenplay by Christina Hodson, is an impudent blast of comic energy. Light on psychology and devoid of prestige, its a slab of R-rated hard candy that refuses to take anything, least of all itself, too seriously. Rosie Perez, left, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Margot Robbie, Ella Jay Basco and Jurnee Smollett-Bell in the movie “Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. ” (Claudette Barius) These differences — the careful separation of themes, tones and styles — seem both deliberate and a little refreshing. At the beginning of “Birds of Prey, ” in a blur of bright-colored animation and fast-chattering voice-over, we learn that the former “king and queen of Gotham City” have abruptly called it quits; cue shots of Harley slurping cheese out of a can and commiserating with her newly acquired pet hyena (named Bruce, as in Wayne. Consciously uncoupling yourself from an abusive psychopath might sound like a healthy life decision on paper, but the opposite may be true for Harley: Absent the protection of her beloved “Mister J, ” she finds herself at the mercy of every two-bit thug she ever crossed, maimed or injured, of whom there are almost too many to count. And so, with her blond pigtails cut short but her roller skates and Louisville Slugger still at the ready, Harley Quinn does what any star of her own standalone brand-extension exercise would do: She gets herself a posse, a dream team, a league of her own. Because shes a lousy planner and doesnt really like other people, this happens largely by accident, and occupies most of the movies swift 109-minute running time. Harley introduces all the relevant parties with a playfully scatterbrained voice-over, merrily hopscotching across time frames and tying together a convoluted story that has neither the desire nor the need to cohere. Her unlikely future allies in blockbuster intersectional feminism include Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) a disgruntled Gotham cop whos hot on her trail, and Helena Bertinelli, a. k. a. the Huntress (the never-not-welcome Mary Elizabeth Winstead) whose traumatic origin story, revealed in an O-Ren Ishii-style flashback, has made her lethal with a crossbow if charmingly awkward in the self-promotional department. Theres also Dinah, a. Black Canary (a strong Jurnee Smollett-Bell) a songbird with a killer voice and killer fists to match, and a wily teenage thief, Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco) who goes on the lam with Harley and whose digestive tract becomes a crucial plot point for reasons best left unexamined here. Chris Messina, left, and Ewan McGregor in the movie “Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. ” (Claudette Barius) Both Dinah and Cassandra are entangled with the storys designated villain, a velvet-suited nightclub owner named Roman Sionis (Ewan McGregor) whose sadistic schemes center on the acquisition of a uniquely valuable diamond. Its too bad that whatever kinky shenanigans Roman gets up to with his knife-wielding henchman (a cheerfully debauched Chris Messina) are mostly left off-screen. Or maybe its a good thing, since what they really seem to get off on is slicing off the faces of their victims in thin, Fruit Roll-Up-like sheets. The application of a knife to a human face is the sort of callous, jokily violent image that can push you right out of a movie, though Yan — making the big Hollywood leap after her 2018 Sundance-premiered debut, “Dead Pigs” — has a flair for pulling you back in. She and her expert director of photography, Matthew Libathique (“Black Swan, ” “A Star Is Born”) have a clean and steady eye for action, as do the editors Jay Cassidy and Evan Schiff. Together with a crew that includes costume designer Erin Benach (“The Neon Demon”) and production designer K. K. Barrett (known for his inventive work with Spike Jonze) they enliven the relentless groin-smashing, bone-crunching mayhem with periodic bursts of gaudy color, including Harleys tinseled pompom sleeves as well as multihued eruptions of smoke and glitter. With a soundtrack of busy, dreamy pop covers like “Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friend” or “Hit Me With Your Best Shot, ” its all as tasty, chewy and disposable as bubble gum. Its also a marked improvement on “Suicide Squad, ” which may not be saying much, insofar as two hours spent in the company of a pitch-black screen would be a marked improvement on “Suicide Squad. ” Still, Yan and Robbie have largely salvaged Harley Quinn from the dour, sexist ugliness of that 2016 movie, where she was little more than a tongue in a tight T-shirt, something for the camera to ogle in between interminably muddled action scenes. The filmmakers havent exactly imbued the character with untold depths or — apart from a nod to her rebellious childhood, her doctorate in criminal psychology and a familiar vat of acid — done much to embellish her fascinatingly grim back story. But they have turned her from a psychos plaything into a self-made antiheroine who, with a little help from her friends, can shoulder the weight of her own adventure. In doing so, theyve subverted the characters Quinn-tessence: Just because youve seen one Harley doesnt mean youve seen a moll. ‘Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) Rating: R, for strong violence and language throughout, and some sexual and drug material Running time: 1 hour, 49 minutes Playing: Opens Feb. 7 in general release.

Man, the only real expectation I had was for this movie to be better than Suicide Squad. And I didn't even HATE Suicide Squad, I just know DC can do better. This movie was super-Meh and worse than Suicide Squad. Black Mask, in earlier scenes in his club, looked like Ewan McGregor doing an imitation of 2000s-era Bono with the color-tint glasses and rock-star swagger. His bad-guy underground bar was just a sound stage, like just a shitty room. The sets in general were awful. The movie's tone was uninspired. There was no Gotham atmosphere, except referenced only in name. I kept thinking, where in the hell are they? I like all the cast, and I even like all the lady-focused movies of late (comic based and otherwise) but this movie only appears to be getting good reviews because it's female-directed, female-written, and has an multi-ethic, female cast. There are no well-executed character introductions or any real character development (their backstories come off as afterthought) and they don't even sync up together until the last half hour of the movie. The talent they had available for this movie was wasted. The action was tepid. I am so tired of the Black Widow-throw with the leg. Robbie on roller skates pulled behind a car made me think of Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future. And the hyena was a missed opportunity, being in the movie only like twice. It could have been a sidekick, or like some R2d2-esque support bringing some chuckles, but no. If the ladies are going to be doing their own thing in the bulk of the movie until they group at the end, then the script should have been more L.A. Confidential with converging characters. Alot of missed opportunities in this movie.

Cant wait for this to come out ;D.

🤣Victor Zaaz is high and Black Mask is having alot of fun. Harley Quinn better be on her A game, you can't mess around with these two. TERRANCE OUT. The moment I saw her hyenas well one hyena this movie has me sold. In the trailer somoane says You need me! I think thats the Joker 😲😱.
