I guess it is fluff in the sense that it's basically a nostalgia buffet with a thoroughly idealized family, but there is plot there. It's just divided into small chunks.
And that leads to another of my prior nitpicks: the Halloween episode. It's jarring because it seems to come out of nowhere and is focused on a seemingly minor character. This time around I found it utterly charming. Tootie is kind of annoying at times, but not during this part. Margaret O'Brien is even quite good in the role.
My main beef was that there weren't enough songs. In the 50+ minutes between "Trolley Song" pure, exuberant joy) and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" so gorgeously sorrowful I had to watch it twice) there's only "You and I" to break it up. Now, that's a lovely little tune, but that's a long period with only one song for a musical. But you know, I didn't mind it so much. The songs are magnificent, but there's enough of them in the first half. I enjoy the characters so much that it's okay that the second half isn't much of a musical, focusing more on the wonderful interactions in this family. Terrific performances all around, especially Garland, Bremer and Astor.
I still don't feel quite right bumping this up to "Masterpiece" status, but it's definitely a film I enjoy immensely, and brings some tears to my eyes. Zing zing zing went my heartstrings.

Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend. I was getting a bit bored with Netflix (and I've nothing but free-time) so I chose to watch this film. Stereotypically-thinking, I didn't expect to be impressed. But I'm glad I kept watching, because it does tell a touching story (plus there's a few good morals there, too. Taki Tachibana ( 立花 瀧, Tachibana Taki) Voiced by: Ryunosuke Kamiki (Japanese); Michael Sinterniklaas (English) On August 14, 2021, Taki helps Fumi hold the Obon ceremony for his late grandfather. He later helps Hodaka find a gift for Hina. Like Mitsuha, Taki previously appeared in and is the protagonist of Your Name. Production [ edit] On August 2, 2018, Makoto Shinkai announced that he was making a new feature film that would be released the following year. [15] The film staff includes Masayoshi Tanaka as character designer, Atsushi Tamura as animation director and Hiroshi Takiguchi as art director. [12] [16] [17] Weathering With You was planned using the storyboarding and pre-production software Toon Boom Storyboard Pro. [18] [19] Shinkai tweeted about his admiration for Shikao Suga, and that he "borrowed" the last name for the character Keisuke Suga. [20] Casting [ edit] More than 2, 000 people auditioned for the roles of the film's two protagonists; Kotaro Daigo and Nana Mori were chosen. [21] Other key roles were filled with returning crew members of Your Name. [22] On May 29, 2019, additional cast was announced: Shun Oguri (Keisuke Suga), Tsubasa Honda (Natsumi), Chieko Baisho (Tomi), Sakura Kiryuu (Nagisa Amano), Sei Hiraizumi (Yasui), and Yuki Kaji (Takai). [24] Music [ edit] Like Shinkai's Your Name, Radwimps wrote and composed the soundtrack and score for the film. There are two J-Pop songs, " Koi Suru Fortune Cookie " by AKB48 and " Koi " by Gen Hoshino, used as karaoke songs in the film. [14] [26] Producer Genki Kawamura presented a work in process screening on June 14, 2019, at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France that was open to industry professionals and students but not the general public. [1] [27] TV Asahi aired footage from the film's opening scene during a reshowing of Shinkai's previous film Your Name on June 30. [28] Before its screening in Japan, Uniqlo launched special t-shirts with designs inspired by Weathering with You and Shinkai's previous anime films. [29] Weathering With You reportedly promoted multiple products and companies including SoftBank Group, Suntory and Baitoru, in television advertisements. [30] During its screening in Japan, many convenience stores such as Lawson launched food products inspired by the film. [31] Weathering with You screenings in 4DX and MX4D begins from September 27 onwards. Release [ edit] Weathering with You was released in Japan on July 19, 2019, at 9 a. m. by its distributor Toho on 448 screens in 359 theaters across the country. [32] Theaters in Tokyo 's Shinjuku and Osaka 's Umeda districts, however, premiered the film at midnight, July 18. [33] Weathering with You official website announced on September 20 that the film will be shown in the popular 4DX and MX4D formats throughout Japan from September 27. [45] [46] On August 10, director Makoto Shinkai and the official page of Weathering with You announced through Twitter the film would be screened in 20 Indian cities including Mumbai and Delhi from October 11, 2019. [47] PVR Pictures and Bookmyshow-backed theater-on-demand platform Vkaao will distribute the film. [48] It will be the first mature Japanese animated film to be screened theatrically in India. [47] CJ CGV announced that Weathering with You would premiere in South Korea in October 30. [49] Volga Film Company has confirmed it would release the film on October 31. [50] Thai film distributor Major Group announced the film would open in Thailand on November 7, 2019, but was changed to September 5, 2019. [76] Reception [ edit] Box office [ edit] During its initial screening in 359 theaters and 448 screens in Japan, Weathering with You sold 1, 159, 020 tickets to earn ¥ 1, 643, 809, 400 (approx $15. 22 million) in its first three days. It was reported that Weathering with You surpassed Shinkai's previous film, Your Name, which earned ¥ 1, 277, 960, 000 (about $12. 51 million at the time) in its first three days of screening, earning 28. 6% more. [77] As of August 25, 2019, it had sold eight million tickets and earned ¥ 10. 73 billion (about $101 million). [78] As of September 16, 2019, it had earned ¥ 12. 72 billion ranking eighteenth in the Japanese film box-office ranking of all-time. [79] [80] [81] Critical response [ edit] Early reviews have given Weathering with You a generally positive response. On Rotten Tomatoes the film has an approval rating of 90% based on reviews from 80 critics, with an average rating of 7. 36/10. The site's critics consensus reads, "Beautifully animated and narratively engaging, Weathering with You further establishes writer-director Makoto Shinkai as a singularly talented filmmaker. " [82] On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 72 out of 100 based on reviews from 30 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews". [83] Brian Ashcraft of Kotaku praised the film, saying; "parts of the movie are incredibly moving and for interweaving Shinto beliefs with contemporary Japanese lifelike praying and performing rituals to god for getting clear weather" but later wrote "the biggest problem that Weathering With You has is this: it’s the follow up to Your Name ". [84] Daryl Harding writing for Crunchyroll News praised the world-building aspect of the film, stating that Shinkai has his finger on the pulse of modern Tokyo's atmosphere, but criticized the similarity between Weathering with You and Your Name. [85] Kim Morrissy of Anime News Network also gave the film a generally positive review, praising its visuals and use of weather to convey the story's metaphor but criticizing the execution in the second half of the film; she wrote that "Shinkai was evidently constrained by the need to fit his story into a particular template, one that didn't seem to fit the plot this time around". [86] Twwk, reviewing the film for Beneath the Tangles, was mostly positive as well, writing, "The movie isn’t as emotionally powerful as Your Name due to a screenplay that plays too loose (and lazy) to earn its huge moments, but it’s still heartfelt. " [87] Ollie Barder, writing for Forbes, described the animation of Weathering with You as "incredible" and recognized its ability to bring "Tokyo to life in a uniquely palpable way". Later, he praised Shinkai for his way of depicting "wildlife and naturalistic vistas". [88] James Marsh from South China Morning Post praised the film for its animation but criticized it for its lack of "clarity of vision seen in Your Name ". He described the plot as more straightforward than that of Your Name but said it has some unanswered, "dangling plot threads". [89] A review by Alicia Haddick for Otaquest praised the film's attempts to differentiate itself from Makoto Shinkai's past work and praised its animation, story and music but said that its reliance on the structure of his last film hurt the movie overall, stating that "it's impossible to discuss this film without the specter of Your Name hanging over your shoulder". [90] Andrew Paredes, writing for ANC X, praised the film's characters, story, themes, and Makoto Shinkai's directing, saying; "The effusive emotion and Shinto mysticism rubbing up nicely against real-world concerns. And then there’s the animation: Shinkai has outdone himself with this follow-up, presenting Tokyo not just with detailed fidelity, but also with a glow that suggests a lush, lambert inner life. The music does an excellent job of driving the narrative.
I appreciated the work and skill behind making this movie.
So, what did I learn. Life is what you choose to make it' and, I'm probably not the target audience.

Written and directed by Makoto Shinkai (Your Name, 5 Centimeters Per Second) it is yet another poignant story from the acclaimed anime artist that stands well above most other animated films of this era.
In Tokyo, young high school student Hodaka Morishima attempts to find work and a place to live after running away from home. At the time, Japan is going through severe rain, halting the progress of many important events. After finding work at a small publishing company, Hodaka is tasked with researching urban legends around the local area, interviewing people who may have knowledge of such a subject. Eventually, Hodaka meets a mysterious girl named Hina, who to his surprise, has the amazing ability to control the weather by simply closing her eyes and praying. Intrigued by her powers, Hodaka decides to befriend Hina to understand her better as a person.
Beautifully animated and touching, Weathering With You is guaranteed to provide just the right amount of entertainment for any fan of Makoto Shinkai's work. While it doesn't quite reach the level of cleverness as "Your Name" it still has enough originality to separate it from its predecessor and stand on its own without drawing too much comparison. The animation is simply gorgeous, easily on par with Studio Ghibli, perhaps even more so. The attention to detail on the raindrops and water is highly reminiscent of Shinkai's 2013 film "The Garden Of Words" another of his work that used rain as a plot device. The characters are likeable and well developed, particularly Hodaka and Hina. Every scene they were together I could always feel the growing friendship between the two. However, the one major gripe I had was that the story was highly predictable. By the time the third act has begun, it's very obvious how things are going to end. Aside from that, this anime film is certainly worth one's time. The version I watched was in Japanese with English subtitles, but I am interested in seeing a dubbed version when it is readily available.
I rate it 8/10.

She swore it shouldn’t be this far south. Kat had to agree. A green apprentice could have followed the trail. A wide, deep trench sliced through forest island leading into the woods beyond, ending in an open field. Then she saw it, shining like a jewel in the cold midday sun. The Behemoth Feasts The Pangar had discovered a cluster of archonite buried not far beneath the surface and burrowed in for an aetheric feast. At first it barely seemed to notice Kat’s approach, bellowing its bizarre, oscillating roar to warn off anything foolish enough to interrupt its meal. Kat drew her sword and circled around a rocky knoll to flank the creature's main avenue of escape. An earth-shaking stomp rattled Kat’s bones as the Pangar’s tail lashed out with unnerving speed. The blade-like armour plate missed her face but peppered her with stinging ice. The fight was on. Fighting Ice with Fire Kat held her own, striking between the beast’s armour plates when she could. The Pangar was speedier than it appeared, dancing about on two heavy legs, swiping with tail and talons even as Kat landed blow after blow. She severed a heavy chunk of its tail, triggering an unearthly scream of rage and pain. And it was so cold.... A brutal slash to side of the helm pushed her back, but her armour held. Heigsketter did good work. The Pangar closed in, blue eyes flashing silver with cold aetheric energy as it eyed her sword. Kat saw it was enraged, releasing the aether within its body like icy glass. But it was cautious. The Pangar did something she'd never seen a behemoth do. It tucked its toothy mouth into its chest and lunged forward in a rolling dive - then just kept rolling right at her. Only training and reflexes allowed Kat to get out of the way in time. “Well, ” the slayer muttered, “that explains the trench. ” The behemoth disappeared into the forest, leaving cold, bitter air in its wake. The Hunt Continues This hunt wasn’t over, but it was clear she’d need allies. And Kat knew just the slayers for the job. Interrupting Pangar can be interrupted by striking it from the front while it is rolling forward. It will not be interrupted if struck from another side. Ashwini Iyer Tiwari creates a world set in the by-lanes of Bhopal that is soaking with small town milieu - a motif that has arguably become a tired template in Hindi movies now. But here, it is infused with a refreshing energy. The characters don't feel like caricatures, but are real and palpable. From Meenu (Richa Chadha), her best friend and a kabbadi coach to Jaya's mother (Neena Gupta) to even her team mate Nisha (Megha Burman) – each of these women are well fleshed out characters playing an intrinsic part in the narrative. As do Adi and Prashant. At one point in the film, to stress upon how much she wants to go back to kabaddi, Jaya says, “ Main kya kar sakti thi, aur main kya kar rahin hoon ”, as she holds back her tears and goes into the kitchen. In another scene she tells her husband that while she is expected to understand everyone’s needs, no one seems to understand hers. And when she speaks of the happiness that fills her when she looks at Adi and Prashant she also adds, " Par jab main khud ko dekhti hoon toh woh khushi nahin milti hain. " The narrative is filled with potent yet subtle moments like these that translates the eternal tussle between domestic responsibilities and fulfilling one’s dreams that many mothers go through. The screenplay that traverses through this journey of a sprightly young mother who decides to give her best shot to a second chance, is taut and wholesome, bringing out a story that is emotional, inspiring, nuanced and thoroughly engaging. The dialogues are sparkling and injected with humour and there are some delightful touches like the school mom’s Whatsapp group, which finally the father becomes part of. In fact Prashant’s character is also heroic in his own silent way. The writing by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Nikhil Mehrohtra and Nitesh Tiwari is brilliant and is the backbone of the film. The soulful soundtrack (music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, lyrics by Javed Akhtar) is woven in so smoothly that it never distracts yet touches the right chord. Moving to the performances, Kangana Ranaut as Jaya is terrific and the tour de force of the film – at home she is the gentle, dutiful Jaya who is simmering with this latent desire to break out and catch up with her dreams. And when she is on the court Kangana thrills with an absolutely throbbing, pulsating performance. She breathes in vulnerability and power – switching between the two facets of her character so swiftly and seamlessly that it is totally fascinating. The support cast too pitch in ace performances – Richa Chadha is superb as she gets under the skin of her steely character and also brings in plenty of the laughs. Jassie Gill as the supportive husband is impressive and does full justice to a very well written role. Debutant Yagya Bhasin as the Jaya’s driving force stands out with his comic timing. Neena Gupta is superlative – especially in the scene where she talks to Jaya on the phone. Megha Burman shines as the young kabbadi player. 'Panga' is a film that honours the endless hours of work that mothers put behind their families and at the same time urges them to never give up on their dreams and to take that second chance. It not only forms an important voice at a time when so many women drop out of the workforce, it is also an extremely well-crafted film. The humor and emotionally charged moments are deliciously balanced and the outcome is motivating and exhilarating. This ode to motherhood and chasing one’s dreams is a must watch.

I also heard about those protests from homophobes and all I wanna say to this that it haven't changed my thought abouy Georgia nor people living there. From my point of view the main problem is that they think LGBTQ people are strangers, they live somewhere not near them, not in their families, not in their neighborhood or in the circles of friends. They think gays are some savage, immoral people without families or normal lives.
And then there is the movie AND THEN WE DANCED. Director is catching the balance, it doesn't show any aggression, it only tells that gay people are between us, as normal as anyone and we only need to face that and to be humane.
The film is kind and emotional. RECOMMEND! Maybe after watching this film people haunted by homophobia will rethink the issue.

The chemistry between him and Merab is instant, though neither of them seem to know what to do with it, until one day the duo give in to their desires during a romantic, stolen moment away from the gaze of their peers. Akin arrives at that beautifully filmed sequence—captured sensually by cinematographer Lisabi Fridell ’s smooth lens in all its private ecstasy—through a number of bouncy, mischievous scenes between Merab and Irakli. Being the son of divorced parents and the grandson of a strong-willed grandmother—all professional dancers in their time—Merab works tirelessly, aiming to live up to and even surpass an under-realized family legacy that never flourished the way it was supposed to. But with Irakli’s arrival, his priorities get thrown off balance—Akin makes sure we see the young man’s internal battle whenever he faces Irakli in a flirtatious dance (an especially memorable one deliciously unfolds with the backdrop of Robyn’s “Honey”) or amid the dance group’s unaware eyes. He plays up the anticipation when the ensemble embarks on a brief getaway to Mary’s countryside home just to relax prior to upcoming auditions—a source of constant stress among the band—and delivers the duo’s first intimate scene, highlighting its liberating nature for both Merab and Irakli. Elsewhere, Akin is a little less successful in balancing his story and steering clear of the kinds of clichés we’re used to seeing in coming-of-age fare. In the beginning, Mary seems instrumental to Merab’s personal growth. Though gradually, she somehow gets relegated to a supportive, understanding female friend with little depth. Surprisingly, Irakli ends up feeling under-developed too. But Akin makes good with some other avenues of his story—when you least expect it, an astonishingly gentle scene between Merab and his hotheaded, recently-married brother David ( Giorgi Tsereteli) emerges towards the end, underscoring the waves of hope Akin manages to see inside a macho, uncompromisingly patriarchal culture that seems to have no place for men like Merab. But the director’s greatest asset here is surely Gelbakhiani.
